A new strip mall is under construction at the former Basic Fuel site in Jackson.

Attorney Mary Boner said she and her husband own the lot, adjacent to an existing strip mall at 2941 E. Jackson Blvd., which they also own.

They purchased both properties in 2011, she said.

Were very excited about it, Boner said, adding the plan is to coordinate parking for both buildings.

The existing strip mall has four units: one occupied by Terrys Sewing, two by Jackson Nails, and one vacant, now that Heartland Flooring has relocated to Cape Girardeau, Boner said.

The new mall will also have four units, and even though construction has begun, now is a prime time for an interested party to discuss building to suit, Boner said.

Two units will be 1,450 square feet, she said, and the other two will be 1,240 square feet.

Boner said the units would be great for a retail or professional space, such as a lawyer or insurance agent.

Or, if a tenant wanted a drive-through, that could be done, although there arent plans for a kitchen.

Certainly, at this stage, we could build to suit if able to reach an agreement with the tenant, Boner said.
