"Preventing Disease Transmission" is a new program being offered by the Cape County American Red Cross to help prevent the spread of blood-borne diseases.
This two-hour program came about as a result of new standards from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration which, in December 1991, issued regulations on job exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Blood-borne pathogens are bacteria and viruses present in humans. Examples of these diseases include hepatitis B and AIDS.
Employers who want to offer this program should contact Shawnna Rhine, director of Health and Safety for the Cape County American Red Cross at 335-9471.
