While Presiding Commissioner Clint Tracy's first Cape Girardeau County Commission meeting did not include any agenda items, Recorder of Deeds Scott R. Clark made two requests.

Clark asked the locks on the recorder's office be changed. He said he doesn't fear for the safety of the office, but that it's just a good idea to change the locks. Former recorder Janet Robert returned her keys Monday morning.

Commissioner Paul Koeper said a preliminary estimate places the cost of a new lock and keys at about $125.

Clark also asked the commission for a safe for the office. While money collected for licenses and services is being held in a lock box, Clark said he would like to see the money in a safe for added security.

Clark said Circuit Clerk Patti Wibbenmeyer said her office had an extra safe he could use. Koeper said he would see if it is feasible to move it from the courthouse to the county administrative building.
