NEW MADRID -- H. Riley Bock of New Madrid has been appointed to the Trial of Tears National Historic Trail Advisory Council, U.S. Rep. Bill Emerson announced Monday.
The purpose of the council is to consult with the U.S. Department of the Interior on development of a comprehensive plan and other matters relating to the trail.
"Riley will bring a certain zest and zeal to the board," Emerson said. "And, moreover, he will help ensure that the Trail of Tears National Trial and its legacy are preserved and enhanced for future generations to share."
Bock is the New Madrid County prosecuting attorney and is the leader of other community organizations.
