Ken Boyer has been named business and industry coordinator for the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council (SEMO PIC), headquartered at Cape Girardeau.

Mary McBride, executive director of the organization, announced the appointment this week.

The SEMO PIC administers federal Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) programs in 13 Southeast Missouri counties.

Boyer will be responsible for assisting businesses in the area in developing customized training programs funded with state and federal money through SEMO PIC.

The training is designed to upgrade skills in the work place, and will also be available for new hires for new or expanding companies, so that Missouri firms can continue to expand and remain competitive on national and international levels.

Boyer is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and previously worked in sales and sales administration.
