A new Cajun restaurant has opened in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The Rajun Cajun, located at 24 S. Spanish, specializes in Cajun foods, including Cajun catfish, shrimp and crabmeat gumbo, crawfish etouffee, fried alligator and other Cajun-type specialities.
Owners of the new restaurant are John Dodd, his wife, Charlene Dodd, and a daughter, Pamela Burger.
"This is my first venture into the restaurant business," said John Dodd, a construction worker.
The new restaurant features the culinary talents of Teddy Rogers, who has a half-dozen years experience in Cajun food preparation.
"Our daughter, Pamela, also has experience in Cajun cooking," said Dodd.
The restaurant is open six days a week, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
In addition to Cajun fare, the restaurant offers a complete breakfast menu, including omelets, hot cakes or biscuits and gravy.
Dodd noted that the Rajun Cajun has a band each Friday and Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. "Occasionally the band will be here at noon through the week," he added.
The restaurant can seat about 45 to 50 people.
