A new display of artwork designed to enhance the hospital environment will open Sunday March 5 at Southeast Missouri Hospital. A reception honoring the artists will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the gallery area just outside the hospital's surgical waiting room on the first floor of the Harrison Annex.
"Art for the Health of It" is sponsored by the beautification committee at Southeast Missouri Hospital and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri.
The juried exhibit, featuring 48 pieces by 23 area artists, will remain in place until April 30. Some of the art work is for sale through the Council on the Arts. Prizes for the juried exhibit were provided by the Cape County Area Medical Society, Cape County Area Medical Society Alliance and Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Award winners are Don Haupt Jr., best of show; Marion Northdurft, Juanita Rapp Wyman, Louise Taylor and Tobi Greer, juror's awards; and Taylor Crowe and Eddie Stuart, honorable mention.
