The Nell Holcomb R-4 School District will hold free kindergarten and preschool screenings during the fourth week of April.
Screening for 3- and 4-year-olds and incoming kindergarteners will be April 28.
The purpose of the screenings is two-fold: to help parents monitor their child's growth and development and to assist in providing for the educational needs of district children. The screenings also encourage an early partnership between parents and educators.
Covered in the screenings are language development, cognitive thinking, fine and gross motor skills, vision and hearing. Staff members will share the results of a screening with parents when it is completed.
Appointments for the screenings are required to help the district provide an appropriate number of staff members.
This is a free service to all families in the school district. Call 334-3644 after Tuesday to make an appointment. Parents are asked to let the school know which screening their children will participate in.
A child must be 5 years of age before July 1 to be eligible to attend kindergarten during the 1992-1993 school year.
