BENTON -- A greased pig chase, a pie-eating contest, a beauty contest and tug-of-war are among events planned for the 30th annual Benton Neighbor Days Celebration Friday and Saturday.

The midway opens at 5 p.m. Friday, and skydivers will make and appearance at 6:30 p.m.

Those attending may register for attendance prizes to be given away both days through the Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday's activities begin at 10 a.m. A parade begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by an antique car show. At noon, an antique tractor pull will be held.

The afternoon will include children's events like foot races, wheelbarrow races, piggyback races, bicycle races, sack races and pie eating contests. Adults can participate in the tug-of-war, an egg throwing contest, a nail driving contest and others.

A kiddie tractor pull will be held at 2 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., a talent show begins.

At 9 p.m., a dance will be held in the community building, featuring Charlie's Music Revue Sound System.

In addition, exhibits will be on display in the old school building. Ribbons will be awarded for Best of Class and Best of Show. Children 12 and under will be judged in a separate class. The 4-H organization will also have exhibits in the building.

Neighbor Days is sponsored by Benton Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds finance a scholarship and various community projects.
