ZALMA, Mo. — Just two weeks after a Bollinger County deputy and Humane Society of Missouri team rescued 18 dogs from a home near Gipsy, investigators worked to rescue animals from Zalma this morning.
Bollinger County deputies and Humane Society of Missouri investigators served a warrant to animal owners living at County Road 710.
Deputies Jeff Woodard, Steven McCain and Eric Sarakas issued the warrant in response to reports of possible animal abuse.
Investigators viewed three horses, several dogs, chickens and one rabbit living in unsafe conditions. Remains of a deceased horse was also found on the property. Two of the three living horses showed visible evidence of malnutrition.
The investigation is ongoing. More information will follow as it becomes available.
