JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Missouri game officials said 96,131 deer were killed during the opening weekend of firearms deer season, which is slightly more than last year's opening weekend.
The Springfield News- Leader reported more than 55,000 of deer killed by hunters Nov. 12 and 13 were antlered bucks. More than 31,500 of the deer were does.
The Missouri Department of Conservation said hunter reports filed through mid-morning Monday boosted the total number to 100,777 deer.
The season runs through Nov. 22. Archery deer season will open again Nov. 23 and run through Jan. 15.
