Boyd performed the song "All By Myself" on Wednesday's episode, drawing mixed reviews from the show's judges. Despite some harsh words from the judges (and some glowing praise) Boyd was one of the five survivors. Contestants in the top 10 were paired to learn who the remaining five would be, with one getting eliminated from each pair. Boyd was paired with 4-year-old singer Kaitlyn Maher, and showed clear anxiety leading up to the announcement.

The tenor will next perform next Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Other contestants in the top five are singers Donald Braswell and Queen Emily; a violin duo of brothers called Nuttin' But Stringz who mix hip hop with classical music; and singer/pianist Eli Mattson.
