JACKSON -- Meier Hunting Club will be host to a NBHA Club Derby March 23-24.
The trials, sponsored by the Cape County Quail Unlimited, and Bird Dog Association, Inc., will feature eight classes Open Puppy, Open Shooting Dog, Open Derby, Amateur Puppy, Amateur Shooting Dog, Amateur Derby, Restricted Breed and Hunting Do.
"Cash purses and trophies will be awarded in the Open Shooting Dog and Derby," said Ken Waldron. "Trophies and other prizes will also be presented in other stakes."
Traveling trophies to be awarded include the Bob Catlett award, J. R. Wood trophy, Elmer Brese award, Jerry Kilgore award, Leonard V. Waldron trophy, and Ray Grace award.
Lunch will be served on the ground both days.
To reach the hunting club, take Route 72 out of Jackson, then turn on Route 34 for 1.4 miles to a gravel road on the right. Turn right and follow road to the trial grounds. Signs will be posted.
