Two nationally-known speakers will highlight a parenting conference planned Saturday. Two nationally-known speakers will highlight a parenting conference planned Saturday.

The conference is presented by the Cape Girardeau and Jackson public school districts and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University Center Ballroom. Everything is free, including lunch for those who prereg~ister.

Keynote speakers are H. Stephen Glenn, a family psy~cho~logist and co-author of "Raising Self-Reliant Child~ren in a Self-Indulgent World" and "Time Out: Abuses and Effective Uses," and Linda Sonna, educator, psychologist and author of "The Homework Solution: Getting Kids to Do their Homework."

Glenn will speak at 9 a.m. Sonna at 12:45 p.m.

Sonna is also scheduled to sign books at Waldenbooks in West Park Mall Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Glenn works as a consultant on training, education, alcoholism and drug abuse to agencies through the U.S. and has served as director of the National Drug Abuse Center for Training and Resource Development in Washington D.C.

Sonna writes a column that appears in parenting magazines titled "Homework Wizardry."

In addition to the two keynote addresses, a number of other workshops are planned, including Teens and Stress, Success at School Begins at Home, Old Enough to be Home Along?, Kids and Sports, Homework Solution and AIDS and Our Children.
