Charles R. Jackson, past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), will be in Cape Girardeau next month.
Jackson is a 25-year member of NARFE and will be a guest at the annual NARFE Chapter 0626 Picnic. The picnic will be held Sept. 1, at South County Park, Pavilion 20.
Jackson's four-year term as national president of the group ended in October.
Also expected to attend is Richard Thissen, current president of Missouri Federation of Chapters, and past state presidents, Merrill Leutung, John Schlicting, John King, and John Anderson.
"We expect between 50 and 75 NARFE members at the picnic," said John Seay, president of the local chapter.
The picnic will be start at 11 a.m., with lunch at noon.
NARFE Chapter 0626 will provide barbecue pork and chicken, refreshments, paper plates and plastic utensils. Members should bring a covered dish, dessert or salad.
Seay said a sizable crowd is expected at the picnic.
Members from a large number of clubs -- including Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, Kennett, Mineral Area/Farmington, Ste. Genevieve and others will attend.
The local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees holds meetings monthly.
