Joe Anders of Cape Girardeau has been appointed to the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council (SEMO PIC) Board of Directors, to represent Vocational Rehabilitation.

Mary McBride, executive director of SEMO PIC, announced Anders' appointment this week.

Anders is district supervisor with the Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, which coordinates training and physical restoration services for all disabled persons in eight Southeast Missouri counties. He has a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Memphis State University, and started his career as a high school counselor in Caruthersville.

Anders, a native of Caruthersville, has lived in Cape Girardeau since 1964. Anders and and his wife, Shannon, are parents of two sons, Michael, a senior at the University of Missouri, and Matthew, a senior at Cape Girardeau Central.

He has been with Vocational Rehabilitation 17 years and has served as supervisor 10 years.

SEMO PIC administers federal Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) programs in 13 Southeast Missouri counties. The board determines programs to be funded and how they are to be run.
