Naked man on bicycle fails to elude police

A man is in custody after trying to flee police at a Cape Girardeau park Tuesday.

Cape Girardeau Police Sgt. Adam Glueck said at least two reports came in about 4:30 p.m. of a naked man at Arena Park. Police arrived to find a man, naked except for his shoes, near the park's train.

Glueck said the man tried to flee on a bicycle but was apprehended by police.

An unknown number of adults and children were present during the incident, Glueck said.

Authorities have applied for charges, which are expected today, Glueck said. The man was being held overnight at the city jail.
