MUSICIANS SELECTED FOR ALL-DISTRICT JAZZ BAND

Auditions were held last fall for All-district jazz band, with 18 members from the Southeast Missouri area being selected. Eight band members were from Jackson.

Rehearsals and the concert were held at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on the campus of Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff in February. The clinician was Dr. Don Parker, professor of music and director of percussion and jazz studies at the University of Missouri at St. Louis.

Jackson musicians in the band include Ryan Vangilder, drums; Jon Reno, lead alto sax; Blake Burress, baritone sax; Ryan Sitzes, trumpet; Bill Schwent, lead trombone; Nathan Rees, trombone; Lee Strickert, trombone; and William Ettling, bass guitar.
