A new Jake Wells print, featuring a historic theme, will be unveiled during a reception for the Cape Girardeau artist at the River Heritage Museum, 538 Independence, on May 19.
"The print will go on public view for the first time at the reception," said Tim Blattner, a spokesman for the River Heritage Mural Association, which is co-sponsoring the reception. "The print will also be the design of a new 40 x 22 foot mural project that the mural association is considering for later this year."
About 300 invitations have been issued for the May 19 reception, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.
Orders will be taken for a limited amount of the art, with proceeds designated for the mural.
Meanwhile, the mural association is now working on a mural project on the downtown flood wall, which will feature a 320-foot long, 14-foot high scene on the river side of the wall.
"We're prepping the wall for the color mural," said Blattner.
