A Dexter, Mo., man charged with murder appeared in Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court on Monday morning to request a bond reduction.
Glen Scott Evans, 45, faces one count each of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the death of 34-year-old Sean Crow, whose body was found Feb. 20 in a truck outside a McDonald's restaurant in Advance, Mo.
The case originated in Stoddard County but is being heard in Cape Girardeau County after a change of venue was granted.
On Sept. 17, James McClellan, who is representing Evans in the case, asked the court to reduce Evans' bond to $100,000 and allow him to post 10 percent cash and live with his mother. At that time, Judge William Syler declined to rule on the request.
On Monday, Syler said he stood firm in his decision not to lower the bond "considering the severity of the charges."
McClellan also was resolute in his attempts to persuade the judge. He said he was working to present additional evidence and was making "headway" in talks with the prosecution's office.
No official action was taken Monday, and no other bond hearings were scheduled.
