Filing has now closed for offices to be filled in the April 2 election. Municipalities, school boards and other county boards have until Jan. 23 to certify their ballots and file them with Bollinger County Clerk Brittany Howard, who said some have already certified.
Some offices will not need to have an election if there is no contest, Howard said. She will update the final ballot once all offices are in and ready to be put on the ballot.
It was reported in the Dec. 13 issue of The Banner Press that Mayor Trey Wiginton would face his opponent, Chuck Neeley, for the mayor's office. Wiginton will, but as a write-in candidate.
Howard said Wiginton had requested the forms to file, but apparently missed the deadline. He was, however, able to file as a write-in candidate and voters will need to write in his name on the ballot.
