JACKSON -- The 1996 Multiple Sclerosis Walk will be April 14 at Jackson City Park. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the walk at noon. People from all over Southeast Missouri are invited to participate.
Mary and Chad Meyer, a mother and son, have been selected to coordinate the MS Walk again this year. Their first walk was in 1990.
Chad Meyer is a student at Southeast Missouri State University. He is employed by Sears and does volunteer work for the MS Society. Mary Meyer has multiple sclerosis and belongs to the MS Society Gateway Chapter and the MS Clinical Center in St. Louis. She also attends the local MS support group.
The MS Society, founded in 1946, is the only national volunteer health organization in the United States dedicated solely to supporting research on multiple sclerosis, as well as providing services to people with MS and their families.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system of more than 200 young adults each week. An estimated one million Americans have MS, and there is no known cause or cure.
To pre-register for the walk, contact Mary and Chad Meyer at (573) 243-8501.
