The Cape Girardeau County University of Missouri Extension is seeking volunteers for the local extension council.
The local extension council for Cape Girardeau County is seeking volunteers to actively serve on the governing body, according to a news release from the University of Missouri Extension office. This is an annual project of the council as members serve a two-year term and must be elected by county residents. The council meets an average of nine times a year at the local extension office, 684 W. Jackson Blvd. in Jackson, and assists in planning the budget, programming needs, outreach and promoting the university to the area.
Each member also serves on a committee that meets about three times a year when that committee's work is being planned and carried out, the release said.
The release said the only requirement for being nominated for the council is that the nominee must live in Cape Girardeau County.
Nominations for the council are being taken through Friday, and names will be placed on an election ballot in early 2014.
For more information or to submit a nominee for the extension council, contact Richard Proffer, extension specialist, at 243-3581.
