The Southeast Missourian newspaper has received two honors from the Missouri State Teachers Association for its news coverage of education.

The Missourian earned the top award for photography among daily newspapers in the contest. The newspaper also earned an honorable mention for features coverage.

The Missouri State Teachers Association public relations committee, comprised of educators from around the state, judged the entries on originality, impact, objectivity, timeliness, appeal and contribution to education.

The awards will be presented to winners at MSTA's convention in Kansas City on Nov. 4, 1994.

KBSI-TV 23 of Cape Girardeau also won an award for education service in the television competition.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic won awards for newspaper features and general coverage. The Poplar Bluff paper also won an honorable mention in the photography category.
