People who undergo dialysis treatments, like Mr. L, spend three to five hours in a dialysis chair three to five times a week. The treatments are long and tiring but necessary for Mr. L to stay alive.
He is suffers from kidney failure, high blood pressure and arthritis. He uses a cane for support when he walks and has a history of cataracts.
Mr. L and his wife, who also has a number of health problems, work hard to remain optimistic. But money is tight. They have no savings and no retirement payments. They live on social security checks, which don't cover all their expenses.
The Christmas gift Mr. L would enjoy the most this year is a small radio with headphones. He could listen to the radio while taking his dialysis treatments. The music would help him pass the hours.
He also needs an assortment of new clothing. Mr. L hasn't bought anything for years. Instead he spend his money to pay his medical and other bills. He would like a light-weight jacket, size extra-large, new crew socks, not white, handkerchiefs, and button or snap-front shirts.
Mr. L would also like a nice pair of gloves.
He and his wife would appreciate gift certificates for groceries, canned goods and paper products.
As a special holiday gift, the couple would enjoy a small Christmas decoration for their home.
