JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be in Missouri's capital later this month. The Moving Wall, as it's known, is a half-size replica of the full memorial and includes all of the more than 58,000 names of soldiers killed or declared missing in the war that are etched on the original. The wall will be on the Capitol lawn from Nov. 22 to 28, and volunteers will be available to help people locate names from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Gov. Matt Blunt signed a proclamation Monday marking that week as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Week, and said it's important for people to thank veterans.
"Truly it is a debt we cannot repay," said Blunt, a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserves.
The traveling exhibit made a stop in West Plains in October.
