Mouser named Dexter High School principal

In a special session of the Dexter Board of Education, Corey Mouser was named to replace Bryce Matthews as Dexter High School principal beginning with the 2010-11 school year.

Mouser, a Dexter native, is no stranger to the local high school. He has been a vital part of the local school system since 1997 when he was assigned the position of Agriculture Education Instructor. He remained in that position until he accepted the role of high school assistant principal in 2003.

Mouser has also filled the role of athletic director for the Dexter School District, having been given that additional duty in 2007.

Mouser is a Dexter High School graduate and earned his bachelor's degree in 1993 from Murray State University. He later received his masters from Southeast Missouri State University in 1999 and his specialist degree from SEMO also in 2002.

The appointment of Mouser follows the news earlier this week that current principal, Bryce Matthews and Director of Special Services Dr. Kim Flowers have been named as dual assistant superintendents of the local school system under Dexter's newly assigned superintendent, Dr. Thomas Sharp. Sharp will also begin in his new role on July 1, 2010.

Mouser and his wife, Tara, live in Dexter and have two children, Seth and Emily, both students in Dexter Public Schools.
