MOUNDS, Ill. -- Nancy Beagle, the city treasurer of Mounds, was arrested Christmas Day on suspicion of shooting her husband, Glenn Beagle. According to a spokesman for Grayson Gile, Pulaski County state's attorney, Nancy Beagle has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. Her husband's alleged gunshot wound is not considered to be life-threatening, police said. The shooting is reported to have taken place in the early morning hours on Saturday. Beagle was taken to the Tri-County Detention Center at Ullin, Ill., around 1:30 a.m. after being arrested by Pulaski County deputies, authorities said. Sheriff Randy Kern declined to make a statement Monday, and no one answered the telephone in city offices at Mounds on Monday afternoon.
