A man was hospitalized after a car struck the motorcycle he was riding on William Street on Thursday afternoon.

About 5:45 p.m., the unidentified rider was northbound on Mount Auburn Road on a red and silver Harley-Davidson when he crossed William Street, Cape Girardeau police said. A westbound black Ford Fusion ran a red light and struck the motorcycle, police said.

An ambulance transported the rider to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said the driver of the Fusion was cited for running the traffic signal.
