MOTOR SPORT ENTERTAINMENT ANOTHER STATE FAIR DRAW

SEDALIA -- The State Fair also announced grandstand motor sports for 1991.

"The concerts are only a part of the grandstand excitement," said State Fair Director Roger Alewel. "The fair also offers a variety of outstanding track and entertainment events in the afternoon."

The Missouri Sand Race Association will make its second appearance on the grandstand track Aug. 15. At 1 p.m., the association will field 4 by 4's racing 65 to 115 mph down 300 feet of track.

On Friday Aug. 16, in celebration of Armed Force Day at the fair, various branches of the military will provide entertainment for a show beginning at 2 p.m.

The track comes alive at noon Saturday, Aug. 17, when auto races return to the fair. MRLA Late Models and limited sprints will be featured.

The Hollywood Auto Thrill Show is scheduled for Aug. 19 and 20. The shows, at 2 and 7 p.m. Aug. 19, and 2 p.m. Aug. 20, feature the most spectacular motor stunts performed for motion pictures and television.

NASCAR IMCA late model racing will hit the track on Saturday, Aug. 24. IMCA modified, stock cars and street cars will all compete in the races.

"The Olympics of Monster Trucks, sponsored by American Motor Sports, will come to the grandstand Sunday the 25. A new competition that is enormously popular, the 'Olympics' will feature a decathlon of truck sports, plus single event competition and team events like the long jump, timed obstacle course and a wheelie contest.
