JACKSON -- Associate circuit judge candidate Allen Moss has raised and spent more than any of the other candidates running for three judicial posts this year.

In campaign finance reports due 40 days before the general election, Moss had raised $35,423 and spent $33,189, leaving him with $1,508 in his account.

The Republican candidate for Cape Girardeau County associate circuit judge in Division IV, Moss, has contributed $24,410 to his campaign effort.

Moss's funds reflect a hard-fought primary election in which he defeated Jeff Dix by a narrow margin.

The other judge candidates didn't have opponents in the primary.

John Grimm and Ben Lewis, who are running for Division II circuit judge in the 32nd District that includes Cape Girardeau, Bollinger and Perry counties, are next highest in fund-raising.

Grimm, a Democrat seeking a full six-year term, has raised $28,235 and spent $14,153.

Lewis, a Republican, who isn't seeking a second term as Division III associate circuit judge in Cape County to run for circuit judge, showed receipts of $16,809 and expenditures of $10,971.

Lewis reported personal loans of $3,000 to his campaign; Grimm reported loans of $2,000.

Democrat Pete Statler, who is running against Moss in Division IV, has raised $5,189 and spent $4,439.

Robbins has raised $5,989 and spent $4,673. His campaign balance is $1,317. Robbins has loaned his effort $2,000.

For this reporting period, Kamp reported seven contributions of more than $100. They were $500 from Joda L. and Charlotte Bess of Cape Girardeau; $250 from Mr. and Mrs. Chad Hartle of Jackson; $250 from Mark Johnson of Cape Girardeau; $250 from Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kamp of Jackson; $200 from Mark Kamp of Pompano Beach, Fla., $150 from Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cook of Marble Hill; and $150 from Joseph C. Blanton Jr. of Sikeston.

Robbins' largest contribution was $154 from an in-kind donation from Robert L. Robbins of Charleston.

In the race for circuit judge, Lewis listed individual contributors of more than $100 as $250 from Richard Kies and $200 from Malcom Montgomery, both of Cape Girardeau, and $150 from Larry Ferrell and $100 from Bonnie Sievers, both of Jackson.

Grimm's contributors of more than $100 were Debbie Daniels of Columbia, $500; Steve R. Denny of Overland Park, Kan., and David Stratmann of Manchester, $250 each; the Carpenters Missouri State Council of Jefferson City, $200; Myra L.
