Six homes lost power after a truck struck a utility pole shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of West End Blvd and College Street.
The driver, Benjamin M. Calvert of Cape Girardeau was issued a summons for driving while intoxicated and failing to drive on the right half of the road, according to Cape Girardeau police. He was not injured in the accident.
"It pulled the lines down and did quite a bit of damage," said Ameren UE spokesman Mike Cleary.
Power was restored about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday to affected residents, he said.
