Cape Girardeau Community Concerts welcomes Jack Morgan and the Russ Morgan Orchestra on Tuesday at Academic Auditorium.

Jack Morgan presents "Music in the Morgan Manner," a posthumous tribute to his father, composer Russ Morgan. The orchestra is scheduled to take the stage at 8 p.m.

Jack Morgan was born in new York City in 1940. He began playing trombone when he was 13 years old.

He joined the Russ Morgan Orchestra as a vocalist, after leaving the military in 1959.

In 1965, the Russ Morgan Orchestra was engaged to open the room at the "Top O' The Strip" of the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas. The original engagement was for eight weeks; it lasted for 13 years.

When his father died in 1969, Morgan assumed the leadership of the orchestra. He took the act on the road, both nationally and internationally, pleasing audiences all over the world.
