Two showings of "Gone Girl" are scheduled Oct. 2 and 3 -- one as a benefit and the other as a celebration.
Student Santas, a local not-for-profit organization that distributes food and toys at Christmas to under-privileged children and their families, has been granted a special "Gone Girl" screening at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 2 at Cape West 14 Cine, 247 Siemers Drive.
Tickets are $30 and include popcorn, a drink, a trip down the red carpet and a chance to have their pictures taken in front of three backdrops. Proceeds go to Student Santas.
Everyone also is invited to the after-party at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau that night. Another after-party will be held Oct. 3. Hours both nights are 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Leigh Anne's Loft in Jackson. For more information, email Jennifer Icaza-Gast at jenndgast@hotmail.com.
Meanwhile, the Perry Park Center Theater in Perryville will host a "Gone Girl" opening party Oct. 3 to celebrate the local people who took part in the movie.
Mary Jane Burgers & Brew is hosting a cocktail hour from 6 to 7 p.m. at the theater, concessions supervisor for Perryville Parks and Recreation Jennifer Lopez said. The film will be shown at 7 p.m.
"They're providing light appetizers and small samples of wine and beer. ... They're going to be serving people throughout our lobby, so we're trying to make it fancy. We're inviting people to dress up as celebrities or dress in red carpet attire," Lopez said.
It's not often that the Perryville theater screens an R-rated movie. Lopez said the last one shown was "Lone Survivor" with Mark Wahlberg "just because we thought it was an important story to bring here," she said.
Tickets will range from $4 to $7. Members of Perry Park Center, a fitness and performing arts facility, get in for $4.
Along with Mary Jane Burgers & Brew, the Republic Monitor also is sponsoring the event.
