ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee is releasing an audit of Metro, the agency that operates light rail, bus service and other mass transit in the St. Louis area.
A news conference was scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in downtown St. Louis.
Montee says auditors found that the extension of MetroLink across part of St. Louis County placed financial burdens on Metro's operating budget, and could impact the operations and users of Metro services. Montee says the cost of that project exceeded the original budget by about $136 million.
Metro's president and chief executive, Robert Baer, plans a 1 p.m. news conference to respond to the audit.
