JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Campaign contributions began flowing into state Rep. Tom Burcham's coffers in July following six months in which he did little fund raising.

Burcham, R-Farmington, collected $5,100 from donors from July 1 through July 25, the period covered by campaign finance disclosure reports due Monday with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

His challenger in the Aug. 6 Republican primary for the 106th District seat in the House of Representatives, Cecilia Fallert of Perryville, collected $2,098. The bulk of that money came from $1,500 in personal loans Fallert made to her campaign.

Roughly 68 percent of Burcham's donations, or $3,475, came from special interest groups, including contributions totaling $800 from six separate political arms of the Missouri Bankers Association. Burcham had eight donations for $300 limit for a House race, all but one coming from interest groups.

Burcham spent $10,034.42, mainly on advertising and campaign materials, and had $7,019.15 left for the closing weeks of the campaign.

All of the $598 Fallert received from donors came in amounts of $100 or less. She spent $3,412.86 on advertising and yard signs and had $888.61 remaining on hand, with $3,100 in total debt. The GOP nominee will face Democrat Dennis W. Smith of Farmington in the Nov. 5 general election. The Ethics Commission had not received Smith's latest disclosure report as of July 31.

The newly redrawn 106th District will represent portions of Perry, Ste. Genevieve and St. Francois counties.
