Mogo, Inc., has been granted a utility patent for the design of a new hair barrette.
"The patent covers the various kinds of material that go into the manufacture of the barrettes, including a colorful design of beads," said Patty Moffat of Cape Girardeau, designer of the Mogo Barrette.
"The barrette gives the wearer a French braided look without the time-consuming task of doing it yourself," said Moffat. "The Mogo barrette is a result of researching various methods to simplify the intricate braided look.
"The barrette comes in a variety of colors and sizes so it can be worn for different occasions," she said. "The barrette is placed on the crown of the wearer's head, and French braids are made by pulling hair from sides of one's head into the Mogo clip."
Moffat started selling her barrette during the 1990 Christmas season.
