The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house community briefing from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 to discuss construction of an interchange south of Scott City, according to a MoDOT news release. The briefing will be held at the city hall at 215 Chester Ave. in Scott City. The proposed interchange would provide access to south Scott City, as well as a connection from Interstate 55 to Kelso, Mo. Additionally, the project would seek to relieve congestion at the U.S. 61/Interstate 55 interchange. The project is in the "scoping" phase, with MoDOT working to gain environmental clearances. MoDOT is examining three options for constructing the interchange, including constructing it near the Route PP crossing. MoDOT will share the alternatives with the public at the meeting. For more information, contact project manager Eric Krapf at 573-472-5261, transportation project designer David Blalock at 573-472-5295 or MoDOT's Customer Service Center at 888-275-6636.
