JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Chief engineer Kevin Keith has been chosen to serve as interim director of the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Keith has been with the department for 25 years. He will lead the department while officials search for a replacement for director Pete Rahn.

Last week, Rahn announced he is resigning April 23 to take a job at HNTB Corp. The Kansas City-based engineering firm is a major transportation contractor.

As chief engineer, Keith has been responsible for overseeing road and bridge design and coordinating maintenance.
