SIKESTON, Mo. -- Missouri Department of Transportation's Southeast District's Sikeston headquarters was on high alert Wednesday after employees received a threat.
"Some of their employees were threatened on social media, and MoDOT restricted the general public from coming into the building," said Sgt. Clark Parrott, public information officer for the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop E. "The employees are safe, and there's been no breach of their security."
After the online threat, Parrott said, MoDOT employees activated their emergency plan, and protocols were put into place that included restricting general public access into the building and contacting the patrol. Parrott didn't know the exact time the threat was made Wednesday morning.
"We're assisting them and trying to track down more information," he said.
Enos Criddle, MoDOT district safety and health director, said he and employees would wait for direction from the patrol.
