Mobile home destroyed by fire in Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. -- A fire just before noon Wednesday destroyed a mobile home but resulted in no injuries, Sikeston Department of Public Safety officials said.

A resident of a trailer on Barnett Street, off New Madrid County Highway 824 between Sikeston and Morehouse south of Highway 60, reported the fire at 11:51 a.m., according to officials.

"There were two people in the home when the fire was called in," police Capt. Ken Dicus said.

Both got out safely, and it appeared the fire started in a back bedroom, he said.

"The cause is undetermined but did not appear to be suspicious," he said.
