SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- A judge has declared that a Republic woman "lacks the mental fitness" to be tried in her ex-husband's murder.

Greene County Associate Circuit Judge Mark Fitzsimmons decided Wednesday that 25-year-old Rachelle Morris will be committed to the custody of the Missouri Department of Mental Health.

The ruling comes after a report from a psychologist.

Morris is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of her ex-husband, former Republic alderman Jason Morris.

Police believe Rachelle Morris shot her husband on Aug. 4 while arguing over her rights to visit their children.
