JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri officials are urging people to celebrate New Year's Day by hiking in the state's parks.

The state is offering free guided hikes in nine state parks on Jan. 1. The guided tours are part of a national effort encouraging people to get outside.

The guided hikes will be offered on Jan. 1 at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park, Crowder State Park, Graham Cave State Park, Pomme de Terre State Park, Prairie State Park, Roaring River State Park, Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, Trail of Tears State Park and Washington State Park.
