KILLEEN, Texas -- A soldier from Missouri died in Texas after gunfire blamed on a buddy who allegedly wanted to help cure the victim's hiccups.
Fort Hood officials late Tuesday identified the victim as 22-year-old Pfc. Isaac Lawrence Young of Ash Grove, Mo.
Killeen police say both soldiers were drinking alcohol and watching football Sunday when the shooting happened.
An arrest affidavit says Spc. Patrick Edward Myers of Spartanburg, S.C., apparently pointed a gun at the victim's head to scare him and stop the hiccups. Myers told investigators the shooting was an accident and he thought the gun had dummy rounds.
Myers was being held Wednesday in the Bell County Jail on a manslaughter count with bond set at $1 million.
