IMPERIAL, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri school district is investigating after a 7-year-old boy allegedly threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot a classmate.

Both children are first-graders at Hodge Elementary School in Imperial, part of the Fox C-6 School District. The boy allegedly made the threat during a hallway altercation on Tuesday. Afterward, he was sent home.

The district says under its policy the boy will receive a psychological review before he is allowed back in the classroom. Meanwhile, the girl who was threatened was kept home by her mother on Wednesday.
