Mo. outages down to about 200

ST. LOUIS (AP) — All the power isn't yet restored after the January ice storm that ravaged southern Missouri, but it's getting close.

Utility officials say Wednesday that fewer than 200 customers still lack power from the ice storm that hit Jan. 26-27. About 100 customers are still in the dark in the Hayti area of the Missouri Bootheel. And fewer than 100 still lack power in Kennett, another Bootheel community.

Officials hope to have all power restored by the end of the week.

The ice storm knocked over more than 1,000 power lines owned by Ameren Corp., rural cooperatives and municipal utilities. Transformers and lines were also badly damaged.

The January storm resulted in eight deaths — six in vehicle accidents and two from carbon monoxide.
