JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Snow days missed during the state's epic event last week may not return to haunt students and teachers this summer.

State law mandates that up to 10 lost days be made up, but a bill introduced in the House on Thursday by Rep. Joe Aull, D-Marshall, would exempt from the requirement days missed during the week of Jan. 31, in which Gov. Jay Nixon issued a state of emergency call.

A bipartisan collection of 31 lawmakers co-signed the bill, filed as House Bill 471.

With the majority of makeup requirements unaffected by the proposal, Aull said, he did not think exempting a week given the circumstances would be detrimental.
