Mo. lt. governor candidates spar throughout debate

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and Democratic challenger Sam Page accuse each other of not doing enough to promote access to government documents.

At a debate Friday, both Kinder and Page also claimed to have done more than the other to promote health care access for senior citizens and veterans.

One of the sharpest exchanges centered on the state Sunshine Law.

Kinder, a Republican, says Page has used the law for political gain but has been unwilling to turn over documents when requested.

And Page, a lawmaker from Creve Coeur (KREEV'-kor), countered by criticizing Kinder for not ordering governor's office e-mail records to be turned over while he has temporarily served as acting governor.

A lawsuit has been filed seeking access to those e-mails.

Libertarian Teddy Fleck also participated in the debate.
