Allergy sufferers in the Cape Girardeau area will soon be able to learn which pollens are afflicting them with a simple glance at the Southeast Missourian.
Beginning Wednesday, the Missourian will begin publishing a list of pollens and their severity. This information will be provided by the office of Dr. Jean A. Chapman and the Southeast Missouri State University. Dr. Chapman's wife, Nona Chapman, who is certified by the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology, will perform the actual count from equipment mounted atop the university's Magill Hall of Science.
Trees, grasses, weeds and molds will each be listed as high, moderate or low, and the predominate pollen in each category will also be given.
The pollen list will appear in the Missourian on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for readings taken the previous days.
