Two entries by the Southeast Missourian newspaper were among 30 award winners in the Advertising Federation of Southeast Missouri's first ADDY Awards of Southeast Missouri.
The ADDYS is a national program of the American Advertising Federation and is the industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence.
The first year of competition drew more than 80 entries from throughout the region. Entries were judged by members of the Memphis, Tenn., Advertising Federation.
The Missourian won for a full-page house ad for the newspaper's weekend magazine section and a full-color magazine ad appearing in Tipoff Magazine for the Holiday Inn and Victoria's. These two entries are among 20 being forwarded for judging at the 9th District of the American Advertising Federation. The district includes Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.
Concord Publishing garnered several awards for printing design, including their 1995 client calendar.
KFVS, among several local broadcasters submitting winning entries, will receive an award in the television advertising category for a 60-second commercial produced for the Southeast Missourian. Entries submitted by KBSI Fox 23 and WPSD television were also selected for district competition. The top number of awards by a single entrant went to RV Productions of Cape Girardeau.
The winning entries at the district competition will be announced April 29. District winners are eligible for the national ADDY Awards program.
Local ad club president, Maggie Friend of Cape Girardeau, said all local winners have been notified and will be officially announced at an awards dinner planned for May at the Show Me Center.
